The quality of connection; giant bubbles

When you zoom in on a giant bubble it’s the most incredible thing. So cheap to make, so fleeting, but what an unbelievable moment, as it undulates. You hold your breath whilst trying to grab your phone quick enough to capture it before it pings into something and evaporates. Likewise the act of trying to blow it, or attune to the breeze in order to give it a chance of lifting into the sky is an act of concentration and intentionality. Spent 30 minutes this morning in bubble bliss on the front porch. Better than doom scrolling. Can’t do much about the patriarchy.

Playful Placemaking for Urban Inclusivity

Leeds City Council has set itself the ambition to be a Child Friendly City to improve outcomes for children, young people and families across Leeds. Its ‘Leeds Children and Young People’s Plan 2023–2028’ recognises the importance of play, making it one of their priorities. As part of this, Leeds City Council’s Areas of Research Interest for 2024–25 asked “How can we develop inclusive green and play spaces?”.

We have been working with the University of Leeds this year to understand from children how they play in the city centre.

Light Night at Leeds Libraries

We were delighted to be a part of Leeds Light Night this year featuring our Marvelous Marble Run in Leeds Children's Library. The Libraries team did a great job of setting up, hiding marble run parts in amongst the bookshelves and propping up the parts on towers of books!
